Public participation is the process by which interested and affected individuals, organizations, agencies and government entities are consulted and included in the decision-making process. At the North Central RPO, we strongly believe that public involvement is essential to meeting the future transportation needs of the North Central Pennsylvania Region.
The North Central RPO provides a regional forums for transportation decisions among local governments and transportation agencies. The RTPO’s transportation planning process brings roughly $50 million annually in federal and state gas tax dollars for our 6-county regions transportation system. Roads, transit, van pools, bicycle and pedestrian facilities are all essential parts of a safe and efficient multi-modal transportation system
The USDOT Leadership Academy provides community members and other stakeholders who have never participated in a transportation decision-making process before and are not subject matter experts with the background information and some tools to engage in the transportation decision-making process.
