Aviation service within the region is provided by two commercial service airports: DuBois Regional in Washington Township, Jefferson County, and Bradford Regional in LaFayette Township, McKean County. Both airports are subsidized by the Essential Air Service program.
DuBois Regional Airport
The DuBois Airport serves the commercial and general aviation needs of the southern part of the region. It is located off of Interstate 80’s Exit 86 on PA 830 in Washington Township, Jefferson County. The airport serves the commercial and general aviation needs of the southern part of the region.
The airport’s current operations include scheduled commercial service and air cargo services. Its 5,505-foot bituminous runway can serve 12-passenger jets, small turbo prop airplanes, commuter airplanes, and low load 727/737 class jets. On March 13, 2002, the airport authority was designated as a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) 254. FTZ status allows certain tariffs and taxes to be waived for components that are imported into the U.S. and integrated into American-made products and then reexported.

The airport’s 6,300-foot bituminous runway is one of the longest runways in the region and can accommodate most passenger jets. Timber companies and oil and gas frequently use the airport. The airport itself encompasses more than 1,050 acres, 500 of which are used for air operations, leaving the remaining 550 acres suitable for economic development. With all public utilities and infrastructure in place, Keystone Opportunity Zone benefits, and its close proximity to US 219, the facility is poised to attract future business development.
